Lisa suffers from chronic headaches is is considering chiropractic as a form of relief

Many headache sufferers know what TRIGGERS their headaches but don’t actually know the underlying CAUSE.  Chiropractors are notorious for locating and removing the very interference that causes these debilitating headaches.

Before discussing how, lets look at some facts.

Stop suffering – Chiropractic care can alleviate headaches, naturally.  Why suffer or take unnecessary medications?  Get a free consult in Havertown, PA.

Chiropractic has helped Lisa. She is out walking on a bright summer day with her smart phone and headphones.

Lisa* is a Delaware County local, and she is only 25 years old.  She is constantly complaining about headaches and typically describes her pain as a tight ‘band’ around her skull.  Her headaches occur 4-5 times a week and last 1-6 hours each.  Her results from her natural care plan were astonishing:

After just three weeks under chiropractic care, she had gotten nearly 100% relief of her debilitating headache pain.  Many headache cases yield similar results.

What Are the Different Types of Headaches?

Each of the three types of primary headaches has different symptoms:

  1. Tension headaches

Tension headaches are the most common, and they often cause a dull, achy sensation of pressure around the head.

  2. Migraines

Migraines are particularly intense and can be one or both sides of the head.  Left untreated, they can last anywhere from 4- 72 hours. During a migraine, you may experience pulsing pain, blurred vision, lightheadedness, sensitivity to light or sound, and nausea or vomiting.

  3. Cluster headaches

These are the least common kind of headache, affecting roughly one out of every 1,000 adults.

Many factors contribute to headaches, such as stress which may lead you to tense up. The cause, however, is generally nerve, muscle, or vascular problems.  Fortunately, chiropractic care is a natural remedy for tension and migraine headaches, the two most common types of headaches experienced by Americans.

How Does a Chiropractor Make a Diagnosis?

Chiropractors conduct one of the most comprehensive examinations to determine exactly what is causing your headaches.  They will also consider environmental factors such as nutrition and sleeping positions that may contribute to your problem.

After obtaining a comprehensive history, a chiropractor conducts a physical exam.  At Rehab 2 Wellness this includes orthopedic and neurological testing to identify disc problems, misalignments in the spine, skin sensitivity and other issues of concern.  In these exams, a chiropractor will locate your joint restrictions or muscle problems and determine if they are contributing to your headaches.  X-ray images are cost-effective tool usually costing less than $100.

What Can You Expect During Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic treatment varies depending on the cause of your headaches.  Typically, chiropractors will use a combination of adjustments to align the spine; and soft-tissue treatments to alleviate muscle problems. Another unusual but highly effective approach is the Graston Technique (GT)– pictured below.  There are more than 10 different types of treatments that may be used to alleviate your headaches depending on the cause.  If you are  unsure what is causing your headaches, you should schedule a free consult today, or call Dr. Roscioli for phone consultation.

How does it work?

Your neck and spine contains a busy network of nerves, blood vessels, muscles and connective tissues. Chiropractic can eliminate the interference that causes pain and dysfunction to these various structures.   As a result, headaches decrease in frequency and often cease altogether, safely and naturally.  Graston technique (pictured above) can be used to “iron out” muscle problems and by breaking up irritating scar tissue.  Every treatment has a different purpose.   Find out which treatment is right for you.

How Often Should a Headache Sufferer See a Chiropractor?

If you are a chronic headache sufferer, you probably need corrective care.

Corrective care addresses the underlying cause of the problem through a series of adjustments, much like wearing braces.  You visit the orthodontist to get the braces “aligned” until the TEETH hold and you no longer need the braces.  With corrective care, we use the same principle – chiropractors align your SPINE until your muscles, joints and brain learn how to care for itself.

Over time, adjustments will hold for longer periods, and symptoms will improve.  At that point, you may decide to move to maintenance care, consisting of periodic spinal check-ups every 4-8 weeks.
